Mariette Olsen’s

fascination with plants and gardening started at an early age. Her first planting experience was at the age of 5 with seeds harvested from a Halloween pumpkin. Raised in Southern California, Mariette’s father cultivated her interest in plants with weekend outings to local nurseries, botanical gardens, and beautifully landscaped spaces.

Mariette studied Ornamental Horticulture in the Plant Science program at CSU Fresno. Summers were often spent at her mother’s residence in Paris, France. As a college student, Mariette spent this time interning at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, or traveling Europe with her mother. She graduated in 1999 and entered the landscape field immediately following, working for two different landscape installation companies in Fresno, California.

In October of 2004, Mariette left the constraints imposed by working for others, and established her own landscape design company. Since that time, she has completed hundreds of projects for residential and commercial clients, relying mostly on word of mouth referrals. Over the years, she has developed working relationships with reliable contractors in many trades, allowing for seamless installation of her projects.

As an adult, Mariette’s passion for world travel continues to destinations like the Middle East, Southern & Western Europe, East Africa, Southeast Asia, Canada, Islands in the Indian Ocean, Caribbean, Latin America and the United States.
