This front yard was mostly grass with a very small flowerbed adjacent the residence. We removed all of the lawn and some existing plant material. Topsoil was imported to create mounds, Lemon Cove boulders were used to add interest. Drought tolerant plants used include Hesperaloe, Trailing Lantana, various Salvias, Thyme, Agave, Palo Verde Tree and Strawberry Tree. Hummingbirds were seen frequenting the Salvias and Hesperaloe. The landscape is irrigated with drip. Deco bark was used for mulch. This project won the City of Fresno 2013 Design Award for Drought Tolerant landscape.
